ROCKETS BASKETBALL - SUMMER PROGRAM DETAILS

Rockets Basketball will be hosting tryouts for our U14/U15/U16 and U17 Boys Summer Travel teams. These teams will practice 2-3 times a week in Dartmouth/Cole Harbour, and play exhibition games at home and away during the summer, including at least 3 major out-of-province tournaments in NB, PEI and PQ. 

For our girl side of the house, we are going to offer a u13+U14 combined team this year. We are actively looking for coaches to help with a U12 House league for girls. 

Our Summer teams will take 10-12 Active players, and up to 3-4 Red Shirts. Redshirts will practice with the team at a reduced rate and could fill in during games if there is a need. 

Our Summer teams will focus on Skill Development and taking our players to the next level.

U12 Boys - Advanced Summer House Skills and Development Leauge

We will have a house league - taking 30 athletes and we will work with them on advanced Skills and Gameplay for the Summer (Late April/May/June/July). 

Kids will practice twice weekly, we will do our best to schedule around other sports - and will give families the opportunity to get access to advanced training and skill development while not having to shoulder the heavy costs of summer travel commitments. Practices will be in Dartmouth. This group will be led by Club President Robin Veinotte. Kids will play games in-house and locally. There will be tryouts for this group after March Break. This will provide the kids with an amazing skill development opportunity. Kids will be Balanced and grouped into smaller practices.   Register Now for Tryouts in our Registration Portal. Be Sure to Select U12 BOYS SUMMER when registering. This program will not interfere with our U12 Advanced FIBA 3x3, and we strongly encourage athletes do both (only 24 spots in U12 Advanced Spring League)

Saturday, Feb 24th - First Session - NSCC AKERLEY GYM

U14's 11AM

U15's 1PM

Second Session - North Preston Rec Center - Wednesday March 6 and Session #3 Friday March 8

U14 -6-8pm

U15 - 8-10PM

Players must register for tryouts and pay a $25 Dollar Tryout Fee. If you have not registered online and sign our waiver, you can not try out.

Expecting first Tryouts to happen the first week after March Break. 

Our travel teams are planning several out-of-province tournaments, which will likely include:

2023 East Coast Games, Saint John NB (June 23-25) 

St Laurent 2023 Tournoi Estival (June 29-Aug2)

Our travel and lodging will be organized by the club, and our summer teams will attend the same tournaments. 

Practices will ramp up over April and teams will practice 3 times weekly for May/June/July

To set cost expectations for families: There will be a one-time fee, which will cover practices and 3 major tournament entrance fees. This fee can be made in three installments, with the first being due when Rosters are announced. 

Like all summer travel teams, additional costs will be required (fundraising available) to cover travel and lodging to these tournaments, as well as ad-hoc fees for Exhibition games that will come up to cover weekend gym costs and officials. These will be planned out as much as possible but could be ad-hoc at times due to the nature of traveling teams looking for extra games while they are in the HRM Area. A summer season will likely bear 4x the costs of a standard fall/winter club season, again with a lot of fundraising opportunities for athletes and families to bridge financial gaps. Our club is registered with Jump Start and Kidsport as well.
